Oh summer! Oh humidity! Oh how I miss the tropical sunshine and heaven on earth which is Fiji!
Last summer, Andrew and I went on a holiday to Fiji and it was AH-mazing!! In effort to stop my ramblings of fast forwarding the seasons, I shall share with you my favourite photos of our time there. We stayed at the Fiji Hilton Resort and Spa and the place was simply magnificent! The staff were the friendliest and the resort was beautifully designed. We were lucky enough to have clear blue skies each day and as soon as we left out our studio beachfront for the all-you-can-eat breakfast, it was already a scorching 35+ degrees! Just after spending our first day lounging by the pool and sipping on cocktails, the change in my skin colour was indeed noticeable (yes, being of Filipino descent I tan VERY easily and go very dark) and Andrew got some colour too! hehe
Fiji Hilton had really nice restaurants, so we alternated each night and even ate in. I treated myself to a back neck and head massage at the spa and indulged in a premier pedicure (where I actually dosed off during my session! haha) They had different activities on each day like water aerobics, turtle racing and the design of the resort separated the kids pool from the adults pool which was nice indeed.
We also headed to Port Denarau and decided to go on a day trip to Beachcomber Island, which was probably the main highlight of the trip! We sailed there on a cruise and being amongst all the blue, it than only hit me that we were smack-bang in the middle of the Pacific Ocean about to go to a tropical island. Beachcomber Island is definitely a MUST-SEE, you don't want to miss out on place like this. Anything a perfect island would have, Beachcomber had it all! - white white sand, crystal clear water, palm trees, a live band, sandfloor bars, everything! I went snorkelling for the first time, it was a little bit scary trying to breath through the tube but eventually I got the hang of it. We spent the whole day there, relaxing in our sun chairs and embracing the atmosphere of the island. We left at sunset, and as we sailed away, the island even looked more beautiful.
On our last day, we made a visit to Nadi to check out the markets. Our taxi driver drove us around the town at first, pointing out different things and in a way posed as our own personal tour guide. (we gave him a generous tip in return) There were so many bracelets, handicrafts and grass skirts, my eyes couldn't keep track. I got a pair of carved-wooden turtles, a totem statue and a couple of anklets.
Overall, our holiday was awesome. I couldn't of asked for more (hrrm...well maybe 2 more extra days hehe) I strongly recommend a trip to Fiji and if you want luxury and ultimate relaxation than do stay at the Fiji Hilton or any other 5-star hotels on Denarau Island. Make sure you take a day trip to any of Fiji's other islands, cause literally it will take your breath away.
Missing you Fiji! Vinaka!
