Sorry for the absence - I've been super busy and have been avoiding spending time on the computer after work hours. Here I return bringing you exciting AND worthy news! The other day I made my most expensive outright purchase to date! A brand spanking new Canon 550D and two lenses!! After much researching and saving of course, I've finally 'upgraded' from my compact digital Canon Powershot D10 and entered the world of DLSR's. Though my 'baby blue' underwater cam delivers some amazing shots and excels well in macro photography - I felt it was time I made a lifetime investment.
The Canon 550D is an excellent entry level model offering a range of features like full HD video, quick start-up time and low light performance - the standard of reviews says it all! I opted for the body only, as I wanted to invest in a decent all-round lens and ended up purchasing the Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical IF Macro lens. Though weighing 500g, reviews claim it is 'extremely sharp, particularly above f2.8...'. The second lens I bought is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II - great for low light and shallow depth of field work. I decided to go for a fixed lens as it delivers sharper results than the kit lens bundled with the camera body. All in all - I am still very new to the whole world of DLSR photography and will still need to read the manual and spend some quality down time with my new baby. Hopefully I can master working it in time for my Thailand holiday in April! I'm sure many fellow bloggers have the very same camera, so if you have any tips or pointers - please shoot them through!! xx :)
Now that I have all the equipment - I now need a decent, not-too-bulky camera bag to carry it all in - any recommendations are also welcome!.... Preferably a side/messenger style bag rather than a backpack kind.
I hope to be blogging more and most importantly snapping away more!
